PROJECT OVERVIEW

A closer look.

Designed and developed for Custom Kicks DFW, this platform connects the experience a guest sees with the work required to deliver their shoes. Owners configure Online, Live, and Pop-up events. Guests customize products through a responsive designer or shared tablet, while staff work from saved previews and specifications through production, pickup, or shipping. The application was built with Next.js, React, PostgreSQL, and Supabase.

01

Personalization with rules

A photo-based 2D designer supports eight sneaker models, paired shoe editing, artwork, engraving, and model-specific options within configured placement rules.

02

From guest to production

Invitations, rosters, recoverable tablet sessions, and order submissions connect to staff assignments, production stages, corrections, pickup, and shipping.

03

Beyond the browser

Star CloudPRNT label printing, staff QR lookup, and queued email/SMS updates connect the application to the physical event and fulfillment operation.

BUILT INTO THE PLATFORM

Explore the working parts.

Open a capability to see how it supports the business.

01

Events & branded invitations

One administration workspace supports Online, Live, and Pop-up experiences.

  • Event-specific products, sizes, allocations, ordering windows, timezone-aware scheduling, and reusable event drafts.
  • A visual invitation editor with eight layouts, editable branding, responsive previews, and QR invitation flyers.
  • Reusable invitation templates and separately configurable invitation, designer, and tablet appearances.
02

Interactive footwear customization

A photo-based 2D designer supports eight sneaker models, with separate left and right shoes.

  • Solid and patterned laces, supported logo sections, artwork, and engraving with uploaded fonts.
  • Move, scale, and rotate supported elements with material boundaries, collision checks, zoom, pan, undo/redo, and touch controls.
  • Calibrated copying between shoes, saved previews, and written production specifications. Online orders support precise placement; Live/Pop-up flows leave placement of guest additions to staff.
03

Client design rules

Required brand elements can stay fixed while guests personalize the permitted parts.

  • Per-model required artwork, engraving, laces, and logo colors, with fixed or approved guest choices.
  • Locked placements, sizes and rotation, editable permitted areas, and per-shoe limits.
  • Linked or independent left/right requirements, validated again on the server.
04

Catalogs & reusable assets

Central libraries keep product options and design assets manageable across events.

  • Sneakers, laces, colors, artwork, charms, insoles, and engraving fonts, with collections and search.
  • Cropping, transparency handling, image optimization, and background removal for insole photographs.
  • Archiving, restoration, and versioned assets that preserve historical order specifications.
05

Invitations, rosters & guest access

Event access and product allocations are checked before a guest places an order.

  • Open-access or invitation-code entry, code batches, reservations, and event-specific pair limits.
  • Guest rosters with assigned models and sizes; CSV/Excel import with review before saving.
  • Event-specific spreadsheet templates with dependent size choices and duplicate-import protection.
06

Shared tablets & walk-in orders

Guests can use event tablets without signing into a staff account.

  • Setup QR codes, exclusive roster claims, separate guest sessions, inactivity resets, and eligible draft recovery.
  • Staff recovery links and release tools for abandoned sessions, including moving an eligible session to another tablet.
  • Live walk-ins can supply shipping details, customize, and enter an Awaiting shoes workflow for later fulfillment within the same event.
07

Production, pickup & shipping

Orders retain the guest's choices while staff move them through the appropriate production path.

  • Search, filters, staff assignments, holds, production notes, pickup verification, and shipment tracking.
  • Audited customer or design corrections with revised previews, linked replacements, and preserved original submissions.
  • Cancellation history, eligible roster reopening, revision checks, and filtered exports.
08

Cloud printing & QR operations

Star CloudPRNT integration connects the web platform to physical production labels.

  • Printer registration and event routing, automatic labels under configured rules, manual printing, and controlled reprints.
  • Versioned label snapshots, fit checks, print history, and attention states for uncertain printer results.
  • Authenticated staff QR lookup, including warnings when a label refers to older order details.
09

Customer messages & staff alerts

Event and order changes feed branded email and configurable, consent-based SMS notifications.

  • Confirmation emails with saved shoe previews, plus pickup, shipping, cancellation, and optional staff alerts.
  • Twilio messaging templates with live previews, event-level controls, separate SMS consent, and phone-specific opt-outs.
  • Delivery history, queued processing, pacing, retries, and duplicate or stale-message suppression.
10

Permissions & reliable operations

The platform separates owner, admin, staff, and guest responsibilities.

  • Role-based workspaces, account invitations and recovery, and staff access scoped to production and printing.
  • Private asset storage, signed guest sessions, audit records, encrypted backups, and recovery procedures.
  • Separate protected Preview/Production releases, Real/Test event modes, automated regression checks, and device/venue rehearsal plans.

HOW IT IS DELIVERED

The details that shape the experience.

An online application

Tablet workflows use reconnection and session recovery when connectivity drops. The platform is not an offline kiosk system.

Different experiences by event

Online guests control supported visual placements. Live and Pop-up guests use a simpler selection flow, with production staff placing their additions.

Hardware is part of the rollout

Printer integrations and automated checks are implemented. Physical device and venue rehearsals remain a separate deployment step.
